Sustaining Competitiveness: Lessons from Study Abroad in South Korea

A group of KU students will share lessons from their January 2014 trip to South Korea with Dr. Alfred Ho of KUs School of Public Affairs & Administration. Nine students participated in the trip to learn about the countrys history, government policies, business, development strategies, and socio-economic development. They visited the Seoul City Government, an office of Samsung, a hospital, an evening tutoring school, and multiple community and religious organizations, as well as the new administrative capital of South Korea"the City of Sejong. Their goal was to understand how Korean society has managed to advance rapidly for the past few decades and how it is trying to sustain its competitiveness based on sustainability principles.
