Tuition Waiver Scholarship
Overview
The Center's new Tuition Waiver Scholarship provides FREE TUITION for the following 3-credit Tibetan and Uyghur language courses to ANYONE, including non-KU students and members of the general public, interested in learning these languages.
Fall Semester
- Tibetan: TIB 101 Elementary Tibetan & TIB 201 Intermediate Tibetan
- Uyghur: UYGR 101 Elementary Uyghur & UYGR 201 Intermediate Uyghur
Spring Semester
- Tibetan: TIB 102 Elementary Tibetan* & TIB 202** Intermediate Tibetan [Prerequisite: *TIB 101 or **TIB 201 or instructor's permission]
- Uyghur: UYGR 102 Elementary Uyghur*, UYGR 202 Intermediate Uyghur** & EALC 590 Advanced Uyghur II*** [Prerequisite: *UYGH 101, **UYGH 201, or *** EALC 590 Advanced Uyghur I or instructor's permission]
All courses are offered in a synchronous hybrid format (online or in-person).
Fees: While the scholarship pays for tuition, students are responsible for the University of Kansas application fee ($40 domestic; $85 international) and student fees ($285.30) when they enroll for the course.

How to Apply
You will need to fill out an online application (bottom of the page) that includes a one-page single-spaced statement of interest, a C.V. or resume, and transcripts (non-KU students) or a current KU Degree Progress Report. Your statement of interest should
- addresses why you are interested in learning the Tibetan or Uyghur language and
- explains how this language scholarship will benefit you and enhance your research, academic, and career development and/or life goals.
The scholarship committee will begin reviewing applications immediately after the deadline. Applicants will be notified whether they have received a scholarship by the end of December
