The KU Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS), Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), and Kansas African Studies Center (KASC) have been funded by the U.S. Department of Education both to be designated as Title VI National Resource Centers (NRC) and to provide Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for students over the next four years.
Title VI National Resource Center funding creates some amazing opportunities for curriculum development, programming, community outreach, and language learning in the region. We are excited to announce our next educator workshop!
“Teaching Toward a Sustainable Future: Preparing the Next Generation for Global Environmental Challenges” is a professional development workshop intended primarily for K-12 educators, which is focused on helping educators to incorporate local and global knowledge about the environment across the disciplines as well as to empower students to be the leaders we need. This one-day event is for educators seeking to understand the uncertainties and respond to the underlying issues related to shifts in our natural surroundings.
Made possible by Title VI NRC grant funds, the cost of registration is subsidized. The cost of registration is $15 (non-refundable), which covers all activities, parking, digitized materials, catered breakfast and lunch, snacks and light refreshments. At the workshop you will:
