McKale Wiley is a M.A. student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures and a GTA at the University of Kansas. His undergraduate degrees were in Chinese Language and Film and Media Studies. McKale worked for the Shanghai-based media and advertising group MCI and continued his education in Nanjing, PRC. In his many years in China, McKale was TEFL certified and engaged with ESL students at the Nanjing Foreign Language Institute. His research interests include Belt and Road Initiative, push/pull drivers in Chinese migration to Africa, and identity in place and space.
