Funding

The Center for East Asian Studies offers numerous funding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Kansas focusing on the study of East Asia. Our main source of student support comes in the form of U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. Each year, approximately 15 students receive these fellowships for either summer intensive language study or academic year language and area studies. In addition to FLAS Fellowships, the Center administers several scholarship funds supported by our donors. CEAS also compiles information on external funding programs for the benefit of students.

In addition to student funding, the Center provided funds for CEAS faculty from our Title VI NRC grant for conference and research travel as well as course and language testing material development.

Currently, the only funding for non-KU students and scholars is a travel grant for research in the KU Libraries' East Asian Collection.
