Graduate Scholarly Development Fund
The Graduate Scholarly Development Fund provides up to $400 to support any KU graduate students focusing on East Asia for the following purposes: conference presentation (in-person or virtual), travel related to master's or doctoral research, and workshop/professional training (in-person or virtual). This award may be used in combination with other scholarships or grants. The number of grants awarded per year will vary depending on available funding.

How to Apply
You will need the following documentation for the online application (at the bottom of the page):
- A one-page single-spaced statement that addresses the purpose of your research travel. It should include your proposed research plan (e.g., fieldwork, archival research) and how the research will enhance your research, academic, and career development.
- A letter of endorsement of the proposed research by your faculty/academic advisor; and
- An itemized cost estimate for this trip.*
*Itemized cost estimate include any of the following costs as applicable: All transportation, lodging, registration fees, miscellaneous Costs, and the total requested.

A one-page single-spaced abstract of the research you plan to present. It should include a short description of your presentation, how the conference presentation will help your professional/career development and your main goal in attending and presenting your paper (e.g., public presentation, networking, job interviews, etc.);
A proof of presentation acceptance; and
An itemized cost estimate for this trip.*

You will need the following documentation for the online application (at the bottom of the page):
- A one-page single-spaced statement that addresses the purpose of attending the workshop/training. It should include a description of the workshop/training and how the workshop/training will leverage your academic, professional, and career development;
- An endorsement of your attendance of the workshop/training by faculty/academic advisor; and
- An itemized cost estimate for this trip.*
