Development Grants

Overview

The Center awards New Course or Testing Materials Development Grants (up to $2,500) each year to CEAS faculty to support the development of non-language courses in East Asian Studies or language proficiency testing materials for East Asian languages. Award priority goes to online course development OR courses focusing on the yearly Title VI theme (AY23 Migration, AY24 Digital Age, AY 25 Climate and Economic Security).

The following are counted as “new courses development”:

  • creating a brand-new course on East Asia (either in-person or online),
  • turning an existing general/non-East Asian course into an East Asian course by incorporating more than 25% East Asian content, or
  • developing an online course out of an existing East Asian course that has been well-attended in person.

Once granted, you will be asked to provide CEAS with a brief summary report to show the developed syllabus, testing materials, and implementation results.
