In a more general sense, language is a foundational part of cultural studies because it allows one to engage directly with the people that culture belongs to, providing an enriched perspective on new regions of the world. Language facilitates access to new information and fosters relationships with others who understand it, allowing one to function as a more well-rounded and informed member of global society."
