Fall Semester

  • Tibetan: TIB 101 Elementary Tibetan I & TIB 201 Intermediate Tibetan I
  • Uyghur: UYGR 101 Elementary Uyghur I & UYGR 201 Intermediate Uyghur I, EALC 590 Advanced Uyghur I, EALC 331 Uyghur Culture

Spring Semester

  • Tibetan: TIB 102 Elementary Tibetan II* & TIB 202** Intermediate Tibetan II [Prerequisite: *TIB 101 or **TIB 201 or instructor's permission]
  • Uyghur: UYGR 102 Elementary Uyghur II*, UYGR 202 Intermediate Uyghur II** & EALC 590 Advanced Uyghur II*** [Prerequisite: *UYGH 101, **UYGH 201, or *** EALC 590 Advanced Uyghur I or instructor's permission], EALC 331 Modern Uyghur Culture and History

All courses are offered in a synchronous hybrid  online format (online or in-person). 



Fees: While the scholarship pays for tuition, students are responsible for the University of Kansas application fee and student fees when they enroll for the course.

How to Apply

You will need to fill out an online application (bottom of the page) that includes a one-page single-spaced statement of interest, a C.V. or resume, and transcripts (non-KU students) or a current KU Degree Progress Report. Your statement of interest should

  1. addresses why you are interested in learning the Tibetan or Uyghur language and
  2. explains how this language scholarship will benefit you and enhance your research, academic, and career development and/or life goals.

The scholarship committee will begin reviewing applications immediately after the deadline. Applicants will  be notified whether they have received a scholarship by the end of May.
