Traveling World Language Fair (TWLF)

The Traveling World Language Fair is designed to inspire students to 'think globally' through mini-critical language sessions taught by KU experts.

This fair consists usually of four, 20-30-minute introductory language sessions, one language from each KU Area Studies Center. The students rotate through each session and then join in an auditorium at the end to finish by learning about opportunities available to them at KU.

The KU Area Studies accomplishes this by traveling to a K-12 school and presenting in-person. Past collaborations have been with Topeka West High School, Wichita Schools, and more!

Students will leave this fair knowing that fluency in more than one language and an understanding of cultural contexts will prepare them to become global citizens. If you would like to have this event at your school, contact the CEAS Outreach Coordinator

Korean has never been something I've found interesting, but while listening to the presenter, I changed my mind. I enjoyed how they incorporated pop culture into their presentation. Overall, I really enjoyed all the presentations and I'm glad to say that I learned something new in every presentation.

For Korean, I liked the person doing the presentation. She made everything easy to understand. Thanks to this event, I am now thinking about taking the free summer classes offered by the centers. The TWLF was a fun experience.

I liked the communication, and ability to learn more than one language. Some of the sessions would go through examples of the origin of the language, and where it is at in the world today.
